650B

We Carry a ton of 650B bike tires because we think that 650Bs are just about perfect.

What does 650B stand for anyways?

According to the venerable Sheldon Brown, the 650B tire size is a French tire size typically used for loaded touring bikes and tandems (or year round comfy commuting). The 650 Stands for the outside diameter of the inflated tire, and the B refers to the width of the tire. If you ride 650B tires you'll notice a more comfortable ride than your 700C setup as well as more tire clearance making it easier to install fenders for wet weather.

But I don't have 650B wheels yet. How do I get rolling with 650Bs?

The first thing is to pick out a 650B Wheelset and make sure that your current brake setup is compatible. 650Bs live on a rim that is 19mm smaller than your current 700c wheel and your brakes will likely not reach the rims of your new wheels. If you live locally, come on into the shop and we'd be thrilled to go through the process with you.
